Oh my feet hurt!!!
We had a great night sleep! Anne and I were able to sleep until after 9 after falling asleep at around 8. We needed it!
We showered after, Paul figured out how to make to work, and headed out for a pastry and coffee. OMG, a chocolate croissant! We ate outside one the sidewalk with the locals.
We located the correct bus stop and waited and waited. While waiting, a man walked by that looked really familiar. It was Newt Gingich. Gordon actually hollered, "Hey, Newton!" He turned around! Weird, huh? I noticed the small writing on the bus stop sign that said that we needed a ticket for the bus. Oh yeah, I thought. I had read that in the travel books. But where do we get tickets. While I was in a bit of a freak-out mode I asked a woman who looked kind of official. You buy them, silly, at the tobacco stores! Geesh! Luckily, there was one across the street where we bought tickets just in time to hop on the bus.
After a body crushing ride we exited at the Collusem. It took us some time to figure out where to buy tickets (notice a trend). We decided on a tour but needed food first. We found a restaurant suggested in our guide book and boy, was it yummy!
The tour was fantastic. I have such a difficult time with human behavior... these were some ugly times. But the building itself is fantastic...built by Jewish slaves who would bow to the Roman god. (That wasn't on the tour...I read it in the tour book.)
On the way to Trevi Fountain, it began to rain which included a purchase of an umbrella. We got there as the sun set. They do a great job of lightning it. I threw my coin in it. (One for you too Ashley)
The next stop was the Spanish steps. There weren't many people on them...probably because the were to wet! Very pretty neighborhood...We can't afford it...Prada, Dior...etc! No kohls!
We walked back to the apartment in an occasional shower. We picked up wine, cheese, prosciutto, and grapes for dinner (& toilet paper). We got out of our wet clothes and drank wine while planning tomorrow's trip...the forum.
La dolce vita!
